Hello! My name is Marco Battaglia.
I was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa, and I currently live with my family on the South Side of Des Moines. I have spent the last 5 years on the frontlines working with incarcerated Iowans and taking them in and out of hospitals for medical appointments. Prior to this I had over a decade of experience working to keep Iowans safe from financial crimes.

Marco Battaglia is a father of two and the son of Italian and Scandinavian immigrants. He was raised on the north side of Des Moines and currently resides with his family on the south side of Des Moines.
His mother immigrated from Modena, Italy, to Madrid, Iowa, via Ellis Island when she was a toddler so that their family could be afforded our inherent liberties, our constitution, and the bill of rights.
Battaglia's father served in the Peace Corps under JFK. During his service he taught science in Botswana. He was invited back to the country as a guest of honor when Botswana celebrated its 50th anniversary of their Declaration of Independence from the United Kingdom. After working as a science teacher, his father enjoyed a long and successful career with the Iowa Department Of Education as an Equity Consultant.
Battaglia has worked in Financial Crimes for over a decade and is currently a Correctional Officer in his sixth year of duty at ICIW.
Battaglia, an avid football, baseball, music, and pro wrestling fan, is celebrating 20 years with his band Dark Mirror as they debut music from their fourth studio album this fall. Battaglia also hosts his own program called Heavy Radio with his lifelong friend Eric Wicker. It is streaming everywhere that radio programs and podcasts can be found.
Battaglia raised funds for The Clubhouse Model of community based mental health care, for the Iowa Harm Reduction Coalition, and to support the houseless in his community. Battaglia is a dues paying member of the Driftless Water Defenders! https://www.driftlesswaterdefenders.com/. Battaglia also supports One Iowa and Iowa Safe Schools.
Battaglia said that, as a member of Congress, he will focus on taking back the “people’s house” for the citizenry. “We should elect our representatives to be Iowa first, and more specifically in this case, district 3 first,” Battaglia said during his campaign announcement in Des Moines.
His platform includes standing for the inherent liberties and concerns of the people of district 3, STOPPING EMINENT DOMAIN ABUSE, LEGALIZING AND DECRIMINALIZING MARIJUANA, promoting policies that will clean up our waterways and restore our soil and prairie, ROBUST IMMIGRATION REFORM, and addressing inflation head on by “leading on sound money and sound economic reasoning."
BATTAGLIA DOES NOT BELIEVE THAT ABORTION SHOULD BE CRIMINAL AT THE STATE OR FEDERAL LEVEL. Battaglia has always been — and will always be — pro choice on everything.
Battaglia often invokes the memory of former Iowa Governor and Senator, Harold Hughes, whom he calls, “one of the true pioneers in the field of alcohol and other drug abuse.”
Battaglia encourages press and public to attend any event he appears at and he will always makes a point to answer all questions!
A Voice for Peace and Prosperity
If you send me to Congress, I will do my damnedest to be a voice for peace and prosperity and to help prevent another war — be it civil or worldwide. I encourage our representatives in the state legislature to support Defend the Guard Legislation. This is state-level legislation to prohibit the overseas deployment of the state's National Guard units without a congressional declaration of war. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION ON #DEFENDTHEGUARD
